This 5 day WHS course aims to train students to be workplace safety advisors and is underpinned by the nationally recognised Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety qualification. This course will allow participants to return to their workplace to commence work as a safety advisor and be in a position to add value to their Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking (PCBU)’s business through the skills and knowledge attained during the course.

Students will also learn essential skills to reduce the risk around noise, hazardous substances, dangerous goods, ergonomics, asbestos and confined spaces.

Monitoring a safe workplace and increasing staff engagement in work health and safety (WHS) is a vital component of providing a safe work environment for all.

Take the lead in Safety at work with LMIT’s nationally recognised Cert IV in Work Health and Safety.

Target audience

Everyone.  Staff that have an understanding of safety legislation, identify hazards, assess risks, deal with emergencies and use equipment safely; the workplace will be a safer and more compliant environment.

What will be my job title when I finish?

After successfully completing the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, you will have the Qualification allowing you to work in any industry as a:

  • WHS Coordinator
  • Safety Officer
  • Workcover Inspector
  • Occupational Health and Safety Officer

Entry requirements


Students will need to bring a laptop or tablet computer with USB port and Microsoft Office installed.


Face to face 5 day workshop.

A 5 day facilitated workshop complimented by both in-class and take home assessments. Participants will be expected to return to their respective workplaces to complete several practical assessments designed to assist businesses improve their current safety regime.

A USB will be supplied to students on the course with the current WHS Legislation and relevant Codes of Practice. Hard copies will be provided for reference in the classroom. During the course students will be required to participate in group activities.

Ken Golden


With over 20 years’ experience Ken is highly experienced and qualified in the field of Work Health and Safety. Ken expertly designs, develops and delivers public and in-house courses for LMIT. Ken keeps himself current with industry by regularly performing a range of WHS activities from WHSMS development and implementation, investigating incidents, workplace safety audits, SWMS, Test and Tag, emergency preparedness management and mentoring programs.

He has had a 33-year career with the Australian Regular Army and is a current Active Reservist – and holds appropriate Security Clearances. He does volunteer Pro Bono work as a Fire Safety Advisor for the Southport Sporting Shooters Association Pistol Club and Mentors to Dreamworld WHS Department.
