Training & Assessment

Here are some things to think about before deciding to do the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment:

  • What experience and knowledge do I already have?
  • What are the job roles that I wish to pursue?

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is the qualification necessary for you to work in an RTO, Tafe, Vocational Education and Training provider and many other training, teaching or tutoring positions.  If you are looking for a job that requires either delivering training and or assessing competency, then this qualification is for you.

When you gain this qualification, you will have the skills and knowledge to:

  • Plan, develop and design training courses
  • Train and deliver to individuals and or groups of people
  • Plan and organise assessment material
  • Conduct assessment

What is the difference between the old BSZ40198 Assessor & Workplace Trainer qualification and the new TAA40104 Training & Assessment qualification?

The previous BSZ40198 course contained 8 units that concentrated on training, assessment and review. The new TAA40104 qualification contains 14 units and includes the new units about vocational education and training, how to use training packages, facilitation of individual and work-based learning as well as development and participation of assessment tools and validation.

In order to complete the Bridging course, you would need to complete the following eight units: TAAENV401B, TAAENV402B, TAAENV403B, TAADES401B, TAADEL403B, TAADEL404B, TAAASS403B, TAAASS404B.

I have completed the BSZ40198 Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training. Can I get RPL (recognition of prior earning) for this qualification?

Yes, you can. You will enrol in a Bridging course to upgrade your BSZ40198 qualification to the new TAA40104 qualification.

I’m doing the unit TAADES401B- Use Training Packages to Meet Client needs and I am wondering if the qualification that I use here, is the one that I use for the rest of my homework?

The simple answer here is “YES”. We will get you to do a case study first, and then you need to find a Qualification that fits your industry (and/or an industry that you know relatively well).

We recommend you choose very carefully when completing your assessment for this unit as you will be working with this for the remainder of your homework. Please call us if you would like some help making this choice.

You can follow these steps over the progression of your homework:

1. Work out what your learners “do” eg. they are Call Centre Consultants and answer incoming calls.

2. Put together a Qualification to suit your learners eg. BSB30207: Certificate III in Customer Contact- and choose your electives (if any) to suit your learner’s needs.

3. Break down 2 units of competence from that Qualification to demonstrate you can interpret the requirements in training and assessing the competencies in the units. So I might choose BSBCCO301A: Use multiple information systems and BSBWOR203A: Work effectively with others. You would then do your homework for TAADES401B on these two units.

TAADES402B Design and Develop Learning Programs, is where you then choose a unit from the Qualification that you chose to work with in TAADES401B

You do not have to use the same units you worked with in the previous homework submission- you just need to choose a unit from the same qualification.

Then you need to do the following:

1. Plan a day’s training for your chosen unit of competence.

2. As you move through your assessment tasks, you will create and deliver 2 of the sessions from your plan.

3. You will then create the assessment for these training sessions.
